Band of the Week:Doc Dailey & Magnolia Devil

Southern Grit Pop, Indie-Folk- call it what you like- but Doc Dailey and Magnolia Devil's music is rooted in history-rich North Alabama- Muscle Shoals to be exact.

Their sound is akin to bluegrass with a rock edge and the lyrics are rooted in stories of home, love lost and venturing out on one's own. Doc Dailey's voice is warm and inviting and pairs nicely with the vulnerable characters he often writes about.

Song of the Week - Sturgill Simpson: Turtles all the way Down

Hailing from Jackson, Kentucky Sturgill Simpson's music is roots country with a touch of stoner rock n' roll. This philosophical tune below reminds me of Elvis Presley's Suspicious Minds and Jamey Johnson's High Cost of Living. The video is slightly psychedelic and is best watched in states such as Colorado, Washington and Oregon.

Artist of the week: Grace Askew

As pretty as autumn in the Smoky Mountains, Grace Askew, who was not only on The Voice and won 1st place in the Folk category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and probably has many other accolades I'm not aware of, hails from Memphis, TN.
